Q:	Why can't the State of Maine MEGIS setup a central server system so that each town could send in their particular information and then anybody in the world could access it via a browser?
A:	This is a goal of the developing GIS infrastructure for the State of Maine. MEGIS working with supporting State agencies and the Maine Geolibrary Board has established a GIS service accessible to state agency users over the State's WAN and to others using a Secure-id. Extending access to Regional Planning Councils/Councils of Government, counties and municipalities is a work in progress.
